Florida "The sunshine state" is a peninsula, surrounded by water on three sides. The Gulf of Mexico on the west and the Atlantic Ocean on the East. Florida has swaying palms, sandy beaches and piercing rays of sunlight reflecting off the waters. Just invision the emerald-green waters that caress the Gulf beaches at Pensacola. Or the shark's teeth sprinkled across the sand in Venice. Or the colorful varieties of seashells blanketing the coast on the islands of Captiva and Sanibel. Without a doubt, Florida's seascapes are spectacular. But Florida's inlands landscapes are plentiful. Towering pine trees and solid oaks rise from dense thickets of palmettos in the Apalachicola, Ocala and Osceola national forests. Prairies of saw grass interrupt mangrove stands and mazes of gnarled cypress roots that emerge from the murky swampland in the Everglades. And we can't overlook the man-made enticements, the glittery theme parks that attract both the young and the old to play beneath the sun. | |||||
